About Us

The conference theme ‘Pathways to an inclusive Life’ describes its scope and possibilities. In line with the millennium sustainable goals for inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all, the Conference aims to develop a sustainable action plan for educational and social inclusion of persons with autism. This would be facilitated through dissemination and sharing of information on evidence based practices on a wide range of areas from early detection & intervention to life education & adulthood. The conference is organized by 4 partner agencies working in the field of autism in India. A brief of each agency is given below:

SOPAN (Society of Parents of Children with Autistic Disorders) is a registered NGO working in the field of autism and neuro-developmental disabilities for more than 15 years. SOPAN services range from early detection and intervention, education and integrated therapies to career education and parent counseling and training. There are four service centers for children and adults with autism and related conditions in addition to a college of special education offering B.Ed. Special Education (ASD) affiliated to University of Mumbai and recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

KDAH (Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute) is India’s one of the most advanced tertiary care facilities. As the flagship social initiative of the Reliance Group headed by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, the hospital is designed to raise India's global standing as a healthcare hub, with emphasis on excellence in clinical services, diagnostic facilities and research. Recently the hospital has started an autism clinic which offers comprehensive services to children with autism.

NIEPMD (National Institute for empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities) established in the year 2005, under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilties (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, to serve as a national resource center for empowerment of persons with Multiple Disabilities. NIEPMD works towards promotion of research in the areas related to Multiple Disabilities. It follows a trans-disciplinary model for social rehabilitation of diverse groups of people with Multiple Disabilities.

RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) is a statutory body to regulate and monitor services given to persons with disability, to standardise syllabi and maintain a Central Rehabilitation Register of all qualified professionals and personnel working in the field of Rehabilitation and Special Education.
