Short Term Course in ASD

Many professionals working in the field of disability, and parents of children with ASD find it vital to understand the nature and characteristics of ASD. They also sense the need to learn specific research – driven techniques essential in training and rehabilitating such persons. However, it is difficult for these professionals and parents to attend a full-time course in ASD. SOPAN realized this growing need and designed a course that would meet the requirement. After inception of Suvidya Centre of Special Education in 2015, the program is being conducted under the aegis of the college.

The Short Term Course in ASD is a capacity building program for in-service teachers, professionals, and parents of children with autism. The Course purports to develop an understanding about the nature and needs of children with autism, and focuses on providing hands on experience of working with such children. The Course has been running annually since 2007. It has been a popular choice as a continued professional development program for a range of practitioners, such as teachers, therapists, psychologists, counsellors and doctors. The Certificate Course in Shadow Teaching has been designed to address the need of supporting inclusive education of children with disabilities.
